Voice and Data Servers and Amateur Radio
The Xelatec IP Amateur Radio (XIPAR) project is the result of our belief that Amateur Radio needs to offer more than just rock solid, basic PTT radio communications. It needs a suite of applications that support the whole communications process for both individual enthusiasts and service groups.
So the XIPAR installation is not just repeater controller or site linking software. It is that, combined with a seamless suite of applications. It includes not only a low-level flat file based interface layer for networking radio transceivers but also web based tools for linking to VoIP and legacy telephone networks, system administration tools and a contact management portal.
Now Amateur Radio can match the effectiveness of enterprise class communications services at a fraction of the cost in a single new or used Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) computer.
This is includes point, click and drag conferencing between Telephony, Amateur Radio, Commercial and Public Safety radio channels and circuits.
All of the applications are backed by readily available education, training, planning and experimentation resources. Plus there is an active support group dedicated to continuous process improvement and the implementation of new features.
XIPAR is a great example of several community projects combined and re-purposed for Amateur Radio's mission to the local, state, national and global community.
The simple 'no pucker factor' network install is a great way to get started. Give it a try and join the real Open Source Amateur Radio network.
