These radios work great with app_rpt and the USB Radio Interface.

For Amateur Radio applications they must be the version that covers the Amateur Radio band and be programmed to specific channels.

They can be remote controlled by app_rpt to any one of 16 pre-programmed channels.

Also because they feature Flat Tx and Rx signal points they can be used with the app_rpt CTCSS encode/decode capabilities for coded dialing.

Finally using that feature, a pair of these radios can be connected to form an good repeater.
