Subversion or SVN, what is it?

To enable many developers to work on this project at the same time and not make conflicting changes, simply merge their changes and compare changes, this project uses the Subversion Source Code Control System.

This system also allowed the developers to create utilities that users can use to update their systems with the latest version of the software from the same source code that the developers use.

Finally, special versions or 'tags' can be created with experimental features or exceptionally stable operation and these versions can be applied to user systems rather than the 'bleeding edge' versions.
