Call Scenarios
Here is a list of the different types of calls that can be made with an Asterisk w/app_rpt system.
Radio to Radio via a Radio Repeater controlled by Asterisk/app_rpt.
Radio to Radio via two Asterisk/app_rpt sites linked via the Internet.
PC PTT Client (iaxRpt) via WAN/LAN to an Asterisk/app_rpt node and to Radios.
Any telephone device via a private or public telephone network to an Asterisk/app_rpt node and to Radios.
Asterisk has the unique ability to bridge calls between all of these kinds of devices using its powerful dialplan logic. So that means read to go interoperability.
Asterisk/app_rpt nodes radios can be either full-duplex (a.k.a. repeaters) or simplex (a.k.a. PTT mobile or base station radios).
Note that Amateur Radio Operators can use both the Internet and their own private Wireless Broadband Networks to link sites. An example is the High Speed Multimedia Project as described at http://www.ceitron.com/mvus/hsmm1003.html and http://www.arrl.org/tis/info/HTML/high-speed-digital/.
