Release Update

The developers have released several new updates for the Asterisk/EVB/app_rpt package. There's no pressing need to update your system unless you want to.

One change addresses what was apparently a long-standing issue that resulted in the use of the incorrect variant of the gsm codec. Using the proper codec improves the audio quality.

Also to improve audio quality, the update installs the .ulaw versions of the voice files which the program will call automatically in place of the .gsm versions.

There is also a DTMF/Touch Tone test command which can be used to read back over the air your key presses. This is described elsewhere in on this site. The rpt.conf file must be edited to add this command.

There was a change in chan_usbradio to make it compatible with the latest Centos 5.1 kernel release. We don't recommend updating your system from Centos 5.0 to 5.1 just yet though.

All of these issues are resolved with the application of the latest updates using the svn_rpt_update utility.

I'll be working on several new features this weekend and monitoring AllStar Link node 2000. You can give me a call directly at node 2075 or use the "Call Me Now" feature above.
